  • Joh. Jos. Prüm was founded in 1911 and today is led by Dr Katharina Prüm alongside her father, Dr Manfred Prüm; the estate focuses exclusively on Riesling from steep Middle-Mosel sites including Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Bernkasteler Badstube and Zeltinger Sonnenuhr (c. five hectares in Wehlener alone). The style is built on late, selective hand harvests, spontaneous fermentations in stainless steel and patient élevage—producing crystalline, low-alcohol Prädikat wines with a famously pure, sometimes reductive profile.

  • Mosel is Germany’s steep-slope, cool-climate heartland for Riesling, spanning the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer valleys. Heat-retentive Devonian slate (blue, grey and red) dominates, with south-to-southwest exposures and dramatic gradients that demand handwork. The marginal climate gives long, slow ripening, yielding aromatically intense wines with high natural acidity, transparency of site, and (often) modest alcohol. While Riesling is the flagship, you’ll also see small plantings of Pinot varieties; styles range from bone-dry to delicately sweet within Germany’s Prädikat and GG frameworks.
