Made from two Syrah vineyards, including a new parcel near Cape Point Vineyards, this cuvée includes around 50% whole cluster. It has a very perfumed nose with raspberry, wild strawberry, Dorset plum, and spice-box notes, evolving into more floral aromas over time. The medium-bodied palate is full of crunchy red berry fruit and fine backbone, leading to an impressively structured yet elegant, saline finish.

Savage 'Girl Next Door' Syrah 2023
Savage is Duncan Savage’s Cape Town–based, low-intervention project (founded 2011), working from an urban cellar in Salt River and sourcing/lease-farming marginal, maritime-influenced sites across the Western Cape. Reds typically see a whole-bunch element and maturation in neutral foudre/amphora; whites lean on stainless, concrete egg and old oak—aimed at clarity, texture and restrained alcohol. The range regularly features Syrah, Cinsault, Grenache, Chenin and Sauvignon/Semillon blends, and is a perennial critical benchmark for elegant Cape wines.
Western Cape is a Wine of Origin Geographical Unit covering most of South Africa’s vineyards (e.g., Coastal Region, Breede River Valley, Klein Karoo, Olifants River). It’s broadly Mediterranean—warm, dry summers; cool, wet winters—tempered by the icy Benguela Current and the Cape Doctor winds, with diverse granite, shale and sandstone-derived soils that yield a wide stylistic range.
