From the May family’s 34-acre Oakville bench site tucked against the Mayacamas, planted to a proprietary small-berried Cabernet clone and farmed CCOF-certified organic (also Fish Friendly). It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Élevage follows the estate’s classic long regime: ~1 year in neutral oak tanks post-ferment, then 3 years in 100% new wide-grain French Limousin barriques, plus a further year in bottle before release. Expect black-berry/cassis fruit framed by bay leaf/mint, fine noble tannins and a long, poised finish.
Heitz 'Martha's Vineyard' Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
Heitz Cellar was founded in 1961 by Joe and Alice Heitz and is widely credited with establishing Napa’s first vineyard-designated Cabernet (Martha’s Vineyard). Since 2018, the estate has been owned by the Lawrence family and farms 100% Napa Valley fruit with full CCOF organic certification across holdings in six sub-AVAs (including Oakville, Rutherford, St Helena, Howell Mountain, Oak Knoll District and Calistoga). The house style is unapologetically classical: patient élevage and single-vineyard transparency (Martha’s Vineyard, Trailside, Linda Falls, plus Lot C-91) over oak flash.
Napa Valley is the most famous wine region in the United States and one of the world’s premier destinations for fine wine. Located in Northern California, it benefits from a diverse climate, with warm days, cool nights, and a mix of volcanic, alluvial, and loamy soils that create ideal conditions for grape growing.
The region is best known for Cabernet Sauvignon, which produces bold, structured wines with rich dark fruit flavors and strong aging potential. Other key varieties include Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Zinfandel, each thriving in different microclimates across Napa’s 16 official American Viticultural Areas (AVAs).
Napa’s modern wine industry took off after the 1976 Judgment of Paris, where Napa wines famously outperformed top French wines in a blind tasting. Since then, the region has gained global recognition, with prestigious wineries producing world-class wines.
With its renowned wineries, vineyard-covered landscapes, and top-tier restaurants, Napa Valley is a major wine tourism destination, blending innovation with deep-rooted winemaking traditions.
