100% Chardonnay from the house’s holdings in the Côte de Sézanne, grown on chalk-rich soils. Typically bottled from a single harvest, it spends ~3 years on lees with ~7 g/L dosage. Style is bright and saline—white flowers, peach and citrus—making it a pitch-perfect apéritif.

  • In 1928, Pierre Moncuit started to sell wines under his own name from the vines his father purchased in 1889 in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.

Since the 1980’s, Nicole Moncuit, Pierre’s daughter, has made the wines, becoming one of the first female winemakers in Champagne. Her daughter, Valérie, joined the estate in 2007 and the two have acted as a duet in leading the domaine.

Champagne Pierre Moncuit owns 20ha planted exclusively to Chardonnay (15ha in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and 5ha in Sézanne) and have among the highest average vineyard age of any producer in Champagne (50+ years) prioritizing quality over yield.

  • The Côte de Sézanne lies just south of the Côte des Blancs and is planted predominantly to Chardonnay, with some Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The soils here are chalk and clay-limestone, though generally deeper and heavier than in Le Mesnil or Avize, giving wines with a riper, more fruit-forward profile. Champagnes from Sézanne are typically softer, rounder, and more approachable in youth, showing orchard fruit and floral notes alongside refreshing acidity. While less famous than the Côte des Blancs, the area is increasingly recognised for producing distinctive, high-quality Chardonnay that complements the sharper, more austere style of the northern crus.
